We supply three types of kiln dried logs, enabling you to choose based on your personal preference:
Ash
One of the woods we supply as kiln dried logs is ash. Ash is one of the most common trees you will encounter in the UK. Don’t worry, all our wood is harvested from sustainable and traceable woodlands and forestry, they are also Ready to Burn certified for use in the UK with a moisture content of less than twenty percent.
Birch
Birch is another popular tree you will find in the UK, thanks to it being tolerant of varying weather conditions. Our birch kiln dried logs are Ready to Burn certified and have been harvested from sustainable and traceable woodlands and forestry, dried under controlled conditions to achieve a moisture content of less than twenty percent.
Oak
Oak is one of the most popular woods used for heating in the UK, thanks to its excellent heat burning qualities. As with our other kiln dried logs, our oak kiln dried logs are sustainably sourced, Ready to Burn certified, and have a moisture content of less than fourteen percent, providing you with minimal smoke, ash, and creosote. Oak is popular as it offers an excellent heat output of twenty four to thirty million BTU (British Thermal Unit) per cord, making it a great hardwood to use for heating your home. They also have a long burn time with consistent heat output.
Why Should I Buy Kiln Dried Wood?
The kiln drying process is designed to reduce moisture to below twenty percent. This ensures your logs light easily, provide you with good heat output, while offering a long burn time. When kiln drying wood, it ensures the wood is dried evenly throughout, while reducing the risk of cracking and mould growth.
What are the Benefits of Kiln Drying Wood?
The kiln drying process offers a must faster drying process. Seasoned wood can take years before the wood is dry enough to burn. Even then, you are not guaranteed the wood is dried evenly throughout, often finding it dry on the edges, yet still holding plenty of moisture in the centre. With kiln drying, your logs are dried evenly within a few days.
When kiln drying logs, you enjoy consistent results, reducing the risk of warping or splitting, while helping eradicate pest and disease. The kiln drying process kills insects, larvae, and fungi that could be present in the wood, making it safer to use in your home.
Sustainable
We pay close attention to where we source our wood, ensuring we only harvest from sustainable forestry and woodlands. Our logs are traceable, we know where it comes from and we are happy to share this information with you. Our passion is to ensure that forest biodiversity, productivity and regeneration is maintained, taking the long term health of the forest into consideration when harvesting oak, ash, or birch logs.
Our sources have the necessary certifications, including the Forest Stewardship Council and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, ensuring that the forests are managed sustainably, enabling you to purchase our kiln dried logs with one hundred percent confidence.
