Prepare your fireplace
Whether using a fireplace or a wood burning stove, you will want to prepare your fireplace as usual. Remove any left over ash, ensuring that the fireplace is clean and ready for new wood. Add a piece of newspaper and then add some of our dried kindling, this will help your briquettes catch alight quickly and effectively.
Add Briquettes
Our briquettes come brick-shaped or as heat logs, the idea is the same when lighting them. Add two to three briquettes to your fireplace. If you add more, the fire may struggle to light, due to the density of the briquettes. Our briquettes are dense for a reason, they offer a long burn time with excellent heat output.
We have found the most effective way to light briquettes is to place two of the briquettes up against the kindling, and then light it. You can light the newspaper, the fire will quickly transfer to the kindling. Kindling is designed to burn hot and fast, helping the briquettes to catch alight. Once the first two briquettes have caught fire, you can place another briquette over the top. This traps the fire, containing the fire for as long as possible.
Establishing Your Fire
