Careful Storage
Taking delivery of your briquettes is just the start of a wonderful wonderful, and warm home this winter season. They offer outstanding heat output with a long burn duration, making them an ideal environmentally friendly alternative to traditional firewood, not to mention, they are much cleaner when burning, and do not produce as much smoke.
One thing we do want to stress, is that you need to take great care when it comes to storage. While our briquettes are compressed under great stress, reducing their moisture content to well below twenty percent, they are able to absorb water, which will cause them to break up and not be as efficient.
Indoor Storage
We always recommend indoor storage, where possible. We know it’s easy to store one or two boxes inside the home, but a palette may be a little more difficult. If you can store your palette in a dry are in your garage or basement. If you have a conservatory, that is also a great option for storing your briquettes, keeping them away from moisture.
Keep Them in Their Original Packaging
Whether you have ordered a box of briquettes or a palette of bags, we recommend keeping your briquettes in their original packaging until you are ready to use them. You can also invest in some airtight plastic storage boxes with a secure seal, reducing the risk of air and moisture negatively affecting your briquettes.
Keep Them Off the Ground
If you have no choice but to store your briquettes outdoors, whether in your garden, on the patio, or in a shed that you know leaks, we recommend keeping them elevated, off the ground. Do not allow them to touch the ground, as when they touch the ground, they are able to absorb moisture, which is what we are trying to avoid at all costs.
Our palettes are a great option if you do need to store them outdoors. Palettes ensure your briquettes are neatly stacked, reducing how much space they take up. It also reduces the risk of your briquettes falling over.
