We supply our briquettes in boxes or a palette of ninety six bags, this makes them easy for storage and handling.
Store Indoors for Best Results
It is important to note that your wood briquettes need to be stored in a dry space, ideally indoors, helping them retain their quality and low moisture content. When moisture gets into the briquettes, they tend to expand and eventually, break apart. Depending on the quantities you have purchased, you can keep them in their box next to your fire or add them to a log basket, alternatively, if you purchased a palette, you can store the palette in your conservatory or garage.
Do Not Use a Log Store
If you have always purchased green or traditional logs and placed them in a log store to dry for a year or more, then you may be tempted to store your briquettes in your dedicated log store. While this makes sense, you will want to avoid this at all costs. Log stores have gaps to allow air circulation to ensure the wood dries properly. While this benefits traditional and green logs, it can expose your briquettes to moisture.
If you have no choice but to store your briquettes outdoors, ensure you raise them off the ground. If you have purchased a palette, you can place a few bricks on the ground and put the palette on top, avoiding the logs from absorbing moisture from the ground. Ensure you cover them well with a waterproof cover and keep them wrapped in their plastic packaging. Don’t assume the plastic packaging will reduce moisture, always cover with a waterproof cover if you intend storing them outdoors and exposing your briquettes to the elements.
Why Choose Wood Briquettes?
Now that you know how to store your wooden briquettes when they arrive at your doorstep, you may be wondering why these briquettes are superior to other fuel sources. Briquettes have been a popular choice throughout Europe. They are compact and very easy to use, they also provide excellent heat output and a long burn time.
Environmentally Friendly
Our wood briquettes are made from sawmill by-product waste, which means they are made using one hundred percent natural saw dust and wood chips. They are a carbon neutral fuel source, produced using hydraulic forces without the use of dangerous chemicals or adhesives.
High Efficiency
Briquettes outperform traditional logs in burn time and heat output. With exceptionally low moisture levels and their dense natural, briquettes can cause less build up in your chimney or flue. They offer a clean burn, when compared to traditional logs and coal.
Easy to Use
Thanks to the uniform size and shape of your briquettes, you will find them very easy to store, handle, and use. Simply add some of our natural wood kindling to your fireplace or wood burning stove, setting a few briquettes on top. Light the kindling and watch as the briquettes quickly catch alight and start to provide you with a consistent burn, adding welcome heat into your home.
Conclusion
Our Ready to Burn certified briquettes are very easy to store. We do recommend storing the briquettes indoors where possible, reducing the risk of them getting moisture on them, which can lead to expansion and causing the briquettes to break apart. If you cannot store them indoors, ensure they are raised from the ground and covered in a high quality waterproof cover.
