The wood briquettes you find on our website are densely-pressed, offering the best alternative to keeping your home warm this winter. They contain less moisture, helping them burn clean with maximum heat efficiency. No energy is used to evaporate the moisture in the wood, meaning it provides a longer and more consistent burn.
We want you to enjoy your briquette experience, so we have put together some valuable tips on how to light your briquettes to achieve the best results:
Whether using a fireplace or a wood burning stove, you will want to prepare your fireplace as usual. Remove any left over ash, ensuring that the fireplace is clean and ready for new wood. Add a piece of newspaper and then add some of our dried kindling, this will help your briquettes catch alight quickly and effectively.
Our briquettes come brick-shaped or as heat logs, the idea is the same when lighting them. Add two to three briquettes to your fireplace. If you add more, the fire may struggle to light, due to the density of the briquettes. Our briquettes are dense for a reason, they offer a long burn time with excellent heat output.
We have found the most effective way to light briquettes is to place two of the briquettes up against the kindling, and then light it. You can light the newspaper, the fire will quickly transfer to the kindling. Kindling is designed to burn hot and fast, helping the briquettes to catch alight. Once the first two briquettes have caught fire, you can place another briquette over the top. This traps the fire, containing the fire for as long as possible.
Allow the three briquettes to burn for a while, allowing your fire to establish. One briquette should last more than an hour, you can then add one or two more briquettes to keep the fire burning.
Of course, when adding briquettes to your fire, you will want to consider your warmth factor. Every home is unique and you may already be feeling the heat of the fire, in which case, only add one more briquette. After trying our briquettes a couple of times, you will soon be able to judge how many briquettes you need to heat your home each evening during the winter months.
In addition to being very easy to light, our briquettes are Ready to Burn certified for use in the UK. They are low in moisture, which means they catch alight quickly, they offer an outstanding heat output, and a long burn duration. They also produce considerably less ash than traditional logs, along with being one hundred percent natural, without any dangerous adhesives, chemicals, or glues.
In order to enjoy your briquettes to the fullest and get the optimum heat output, you will want to store your briquettes is a dry place. We do recommend you store them indoors, but if you can’t, be sure to keep them off the ground and covered in a waterproof cover, or place them in a rainproof contained.
When using our wood briquettes, ensure you store them in a dry location, away from the fire, and never leave your fire unguarded. The wood burning stove or fireplace you are using should have adequate ventilation, ensuring it remains safe for you and your family.
While our briquettes do offer a clean burn, reducing creosote build up in your chimney or flue, it is still recommended to have your chimney and flue cleaned regularly by a professional, reducing the risk of chimney fires.
