What materials are the briquettes made from?

Our high quality briquettes are made using densely-pressed sawdust. These Ready to Burn certified briquettes are efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective. They are drier than your traditional firewood, burning for longer with minimal smoke, and lowering the risk of unsafe gas release, including creosote.

What are Briquettes?

Briquettes are a heating fuel that is made from compressed combustible material. There are two main types of briquettes you can buy:

  • Coal briquettes
  • Biomass briquettes, which are what you will find on the Logs For Sale Near Me website

Coal briquettes are made from coal, while our high quality wood briquettes are made from wood, sawdust, and other organic materials. They are available in a choice of shapes:

  • Small brick shape – sawdust briquettes
  • Long rectangular shape – fire logs
  • Cylinder shape – hardwood heat logs
  • Octagon shape – Pini Kay Eco Logs
  • Disk shape – coal briquettes

What Are Biomass Briquettes?

Biomass briquettes are made from organic materials. Our briquettes are made from one hundred percent ecological sawdust. There are no adhesives, glues, or chemicals used in the manufacturing process, providing you with a Ready to Burn certified briquette that is environmentally friendly.

Our briquettes are produced using by-products from sawmills. They come in a brick or log shape.

Common Materials Used in Briquettes

Briquettes can be made from any combustible organic material. Our briquettes are made from compressed sawdust to compressed wood chips, depending on the briquettes you select. It is important to note not all organic materials good for briquettes. Good quality biomass briquettes include:

  • Sawmill by-products – ninety percent of biomass briquettes are made from recycled sawmill by-products, including wood chips, saw dust, wood shavings, bark, and scraps
  • Dried peat – a popular choice in Ireland. These briquettes burn at high temperatures with barely any smoke. They do produce a distinct smell
  • Charcoal – charcoal briquettes are often used when you barbecue, used for heating and grilling

Benefits of Using Briquettes

Briquettes provide a wealth of benefits when compared to traditional firewood, including:

  • Higher heat output
  • Longer burn duration
  • High energy density
  • Low moisture content – our briquettes are Ready to Burn certified in the UK
  • Cleaner burn, less ash and creosote
  • Easy to store
  • Easy to handle

How Are Briquettes Manufactured?

Briquettes are made by compressing wood chips, saw dust, bark, and other by-products into a desired shape and density. The material used to make the briquettes is collected, dried, and then shredded.

Using a specialised press, the briquettes are compressed into a desired shape.

Common Types of Wooden Briquettes

We provide our UK customer base with three types of wooden briquettes, offering you a selection of Ready to Burn certified briquettes, you can use in your home with confidence. Our selection includes:

RUF Briquettes

Our RUF briquettes are made from one hundred percent ecological sawdust, offering an excellent heat output, competitive price, and long burn duration. They are good for general use and can be used indoors and outdoors.

Hardwood Heat Logs

Our hardwood heat logs are made using highly compressed, sawdust, that has been dried to a low moisture content. They burn hotter, are easy to light, and provide a long burn duration, keeping your home warm during winter, while using less logs to heat your home.

Pini Kay Heat Logs

Our Pini Kay heat logs are tightly compressed with a minimal moisture content. They provide a hot temperature with a long burn duration. These have been made with you in mind. These logs do not expand as they burn.
