Do you provide information on how to use briquettes effectively?

Briquettes are a high quality wood fuel choice, offering a clean, hot, and long lasting burn. They are a wonderful eco-friendly alternative to firewood, ideal if you live in a smoke free area in the UK.

Our high quality briquettes are made from highly compacted wood waste, combined with an exceptionally low moisture content. This is why they are easy to light, provide excellent heat output, and a long lasting burn. At the same time, this low moisture content is what makes them sensitive to moisture. If your briquettes get wet, they will swell and crumble, losing their efficiency.

Briquette Storage Tips

The first information we always provide our customers when it comes to using briquettes effectively is storage. You need to ensure you preserve the energy potential and integrity of the product by ensuring they are stored in their original packaging and in a moisture free, completely dry environment. We actually recommend storing them indoors.

  • Select a dry and sheltered location, avoiding the risk of snow, rain, dripping water, and high humidity
  • Never store in uncovered areas as these can get damp and humid. Do not use a traditional log store that are ventilated. Remember your briquettes will arrive completely dry and ready for immediate use
  • Keep your briquettes in their original packaging, helping to protect them until you are ready to use them. Another option is to purchase plastic airtight containers.
  • Stack them neatly and off the ground. Palettes work well, reducing the risk of ground moisture absorption
  • When keeping your briquettes in a dry environment, they can be stored for an extensive period of time.
  • Our briquettes are Ready to Burn certified for immediate use in the UK.  If you have removed them from their original packaging and have them placed near your fireplace, you should use them within a few weeks.

Tips on How to Use Briquettes Effectively

The first step to starting your fire with briquettes is to ensure your fireplace is free of any debris or ash. If you are using a log burner or wood burning stove, the air vents should be in the open position.

Add some newspaper, combined with our natural fire starters at the bottom and then add two to three briquettes on the top of the pile. Light the newspaper. Newspaper burns quickly with a good flame, helping the fire starters light effectively. Once the briquettes are lit and generating heat, which takes around ten minutes, you can add a few more briquettes.

We want to remind you at this point that briquettes burn hot and long. So be careful not to add too many briquettes. You need fewer briquettes to achieve the heat and burn time you need.

Our briquettes can burn for two hours with ease, depending on the air flow. Modern appliances enable you to manage the burn and heat release with air flow vents. You will need to experiment a bit to find the right heat output for you and your family. When a fire is burning, it does not need to be prodded or poked. You can leave it to burn, giving you more time enjoying the warmth with your family.
